How do you stay true to yourself in a noisy world?
Staying true to yourself can be difficult, especially in this modern, fast world.
We (You and I, and everyone else) live in a world that is moving at a hundred miles per hour and with no intentions of slowing down.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) is booming, and it’s just getting started.
U.S currency (The Dollar) is losing its value every day because we keep printing money.
Digital money like Bitcoin is on the rise.
Phones get flooded with notifications every few seconds.
Billboards fight for your attention every time you jump in your car and drive to your destination.
Family members, spouses, girlfriends, boyfriends, sons, daughters, friends, and pets demand your limited time.
Life chores pile up to the point where you feel overwhelmed and do nothing, but they are still there.
~ No doubt about it, it’s a fast-moving world!
So, how can we NOT get lost in all the noise around us and stay true to ourselves without harming our character?
We can stay true to ourselves by guarding our principles and values!

Wait... What?...
What are principles?
Your principles are your own personalized guidelines.
They work as guardrails to keep you on the path (The path = Your persona)
Your principles keep you true to who you are.
It’s the foundation of your character.
What are values?
Your values are what you care about the most at this time.
Your values are things that you cherish the most and prioritize.
For example, if you value respect, you won’t get mad and engage in an argument; You will meet the person where they are (Their level of understanding) and instead of getting angry and losing your cool, you will show empathy for that person and walk away.
How do I know if my principles and values are being compromised?
When you, someone, or something tampers with your principles or values, you feel very uncomfortable with yourself.
~ Take the corporate world, for example.
Here’s my story...
I was working for a company where people fought so hard for a promotion. These were field employees who wanted to make it a little bit easier on their selves by working behind a desk (Management position).
They wanted to work with their mind and not so much with their body (Hard physical work).
Well, I wasn’t the exception. I had been working for this company for twenty years out in the field, and I felt like it was time for a change.
It wasn’t easy, I applied eleven times before they finally said ok, the job is yours.
Talk about persistence!
To my surprise, it wasn’t what I expected!
The system was corrupt and unethical.
People in charge who called themselves leaders were nothing but unethical managers with no people skills.
It didn’t take me long to see a pattern.
New field employees came in as new supervisors with the intention to make a change that would benefit the department and the people in it.
They had good intentions and good ideas for the department, but as soon as they wanted to make a change for the better, they were shut down by upper management and given two options...
Option “A” - You join the clique, you stay quiet, become a “Yes Man,” and maybe we help you get a higher promotion down the line.
Or
Option “B” - You don’t join the clique, and we push you to the side, and good luck getting another promotion.

I chose Option “B” not because I wasn’t a team player, but because I wasn’t willing to destroy my character.
Due to that choice, I got pushed to the side, and I wasn’t taken seriously.
I had no voice; my opinion didn’t count. I wasn’t happy at all.
For the first time in my life, I hated going to work.
After twenty years, I made a decision that changed my life (for the better) forever.
I quit the company.
My principles and values were being violated, and I wasn’t willing to break them for anyone. My persona was way much more valuable than a job that I loved for twenty years.
Quitting my job after twenty years was scary, but it was one of the best decisions I made in my life because it taught me that there was life outside of my comfort zone.
DISCLAIMER: I am not telling you to quit your job tomorrow, but if your principles and values are being destroyed by your environment, then maybe it’s time to create a plan and restructure your life.
People, circumstances, and life events will always test your principles and values.
It’s your responsibility to protect and guard them with every piece of energy you have.
~ No one is coming to save you.
Whether we like it or not, we are responsible for our own lives.
~ Take control of your life and never settle for crumbs.
Like Jim Rohn said...
"If you don't design your own life plan, chances are you'll fall into someone else's plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much." - Jim Rohn
Hope this helps.
